Why choose Engineering?
Our Engineering Graduate programme is designed to develop future engineering leaders in our business. We would expect you to complete the programme and go into a management role within our site engineering teams. Our commitment to your development as an engineer goes much further than the scheme itself, you will be mentored by one of our senior engineers and given many opportunities to grow your experience and network in your journey towards leading a site engineering team.
What will you be doing?
Over a 36 month programme you will undergo placements in a number of manufacturing plants around the UK, encompassing hands-on maintenance of our equipment, planning of full factory maintenance activities, production equipment problem solving, production line management and the execution of a major engineering project. The depth and width of this exposure will give you the base experience and confidence required to go into a stand-alone factory role.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for people who have a real passion for engineering and who want to understand how different strands of this function impact the workplace. You will gain insight and experience in your journey towards becoming a Chartered Engineer on our programme and will receive extensive training, combining practical technical engineering skills with core management training.
What do our Grads say?
Since joining the engineering graduate scheme with Allied Bakeries I have been fortunate enough to spend time at four of our different sites in four different cities! From Belfast to Cardiff, I have carried out various different roles and been involved in some very exciting new plant installations. The aspect I like most about working in engineering at Allied Bakeries is that the role is extremely varied and every day is different. The nature of our business means that it is very fast paced and things more often than not do not go how you planned, but that’s what makes it all the more interesting! You gain a lot of exposure very early on and it is a REAL job with REAL responsibilities and I cannot emphasise this enough. I think this is one of the key ways in which ABF puts itself ahead of other engineering graduate schemes. There is a real opportunity to get stuck in and make a difference!
